The Joey Evans Quartet

Swing Music
Our Quartet was established out of our deep love for 'Swing' music, which we have re-arranged to be performed by a smaller band.

Rose & Castle Morris

Music - morris dancers About the Rose and Castle
The side was formed in the village of Blisworth in 1977 to dance traditional Clog dances originating from the Lancashire and Cheshire regions of the North West of England.

The association between the village and the North West is, of course, the Grand Junction Canal (later renamed the Grand Union Canal). The Rose and Castle motif is frequently seen decorating the Narrow Boats, and this association gives the side its name.

The design is carried on the side's Bass Drum and is embroidered into the waistcoats of the Band.

More recently, the side has based itself at the Boat Inn, Stoke Bruerne. Almost opposite the Boat Inn is the canal museum. So our association with the waterways goes on.

Since being formed the side has participated in many functions throughout the country and has visited international events in France and Belgium.

Where we practise
We meet between 8.15 & 8.30 on Wednesday evenings at the Boat Inn Stoke Bruerne. Time for a glass of beer before we start & time for another after we finish (about 10 pm).

Stoke Bruerne is easy to get to. A few miles south of Northampton off the A508. Also home to the Waterways Museum.

Hope to see you there.
