Speakeasy's regular events

Local writers' nights
=====================

Speakeasy meets on the first Friday of each month at the Quaker Centre, 1 Oakley Gardens, Downhead Park, Milton Keynes 7.30 - 10.15
Most meetings take the form of local writers' nights where we share our stories, poems, articles or whatever we've created. Newcomers are welcome to join us, and we invite participants to bring some work with them to read aloud - or, if you prefer, you can just listen to other people's work. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly - there's no pressure to perform if you don't want to, and your work won't be aggressively criticised.

Critique nights
===============

These take place about once a month for Speakeasy members who are working on short stories or novels. The sessions are designed to provide constructive criticism and helpful advice so that work in progress can be developed and polished. Meetings take place in a small group and participants submit their work in advance. Participants have found these sessions challenging but also inspiring, constructive and fun. Speakeasy members only.

Poetry Forum
============

The Speakeasy poetry forum meets about once a month and provides an opportunity for Speakeasy poets to share their "work in progress" and exchange ideas, inspiration and constructive criticism. The Forum also runs a regular newsletter and hosts occasional themed evenings such as our recent "Please Bring a Poet" night. Speakeasy members only.
